Tesla Roadster
One can only hope that the 2009 Tesla Roadster can transform the Automobile Industry. While Toyota and GM are busy making hybrid gas-electric vehicles that get an astounding 50MPG, Tesla is busy creating a factory in San Fransisco. Their goal is to mass produce their Roadster — a vehicle that goes 0-60MPH in 4 seconds and red lines at 14,000 RPM. It also uses zero gasoline. That’s right none.
Ladies and Gentlemen, The Tesla Roadster:
- Purely Electric — the only oil is in the transmission, there is no exhaust
- 0-60 in a very fast 3.9 seconds. Apparently that presses you back into the seat pretty well
- Lithium Ion batteries
- 220 Miles per charge
- Absolutely gorgeous styling and available in 13 colors
- MSRP $109,000
While there isn’t a single person I talk to that wouldn’t like to sit behind the steering wheel of one of these vehicles, the price point leaves the vehicle in the dream stage for most people. The Tesla Roadster is just a start, though. As Tesla Motors’ website says, “We foresee a day when all cars run on electric power and when people will struggle to remember a time when a love of driving came with a side order of guilt.”
We agree. How about you?
