Obama and Technology

3 November 2008 232 views 2 Comments

Obama released a video outlining his vision for technology. Most of it was somewhat boring political posturing, but I did grab onto one point:

To seize this moment we need to connect all of America to twenty-first century infrastructure. As President, I will set a goal of ensuring that every American has broadband access — no matter where you live, no matter how much money you have or don’t have. We will raise the standards for broadband speed. We will connect schools and libraries and hospitals. We will take on the special interests so that we can finally unleash the power of wireless spectrum for our safety, our security, and our connectivity.

Blueprint for Change: Technology

Without getting into a virtual political fistfight — as happens so often if you mention one candidate or another — hit the comments with who you think will be better for America’s future in technology and why.

It has already been demonstrated that the Obama campaign used technology and the power of the internet effectively and also on a personal level. I am certain this understanding of the incredible power and the value of current and future technological development will ensure his continued wise investment and support of technology in all areas.

@LK: Absolutely. Since this article was published the Obama-Biden transition project has launched a website with some details:
change.gov. The website provides some details on his agenda for technological development. Although the site pretty much outlines what he was saying as a candidate, the fact that he has a website so soon after being elected shows some commitment to those ideas. I look forward to seeing what develops over the next few years.
